Henrique Const\u00e2ncia<\/strong>, a Portuguese conductor from the island of S\u00e3o Miguel in the Azores, has stood out for his versatility and the energy he puts into his interpretations, covering repertoires ranging from the Baroque to contemporary music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n He trained as an orchestral conductor at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he studied with Ed Spanjaard and Antony Hermus, continuing his training at the Italian Conducting Academy in Milan with Gilberto Serembe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n He began his musical career as a cellist, having studied with Paulo Gaio Lima at the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra and with Gideon den Herder at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n He has performed as a guest conductor with ensembles such as the Orquestra do Algarve, Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, Sinfonietta de Braga, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, Orquestra Cl\u00e1ssica do Centro and Orquestra Cl\u00e1ssica da Madeira. Among the soloists he has collaborated with are percussionist Pedro Carneiro, soprano Silvia Sequeira, pianist \u00c1sta D\u00f3ra Finnsd\u00f3ttir and guitarist Carlos Gall\u00e9n. <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n He was assistant conductor of the Portuguese Chamber Orchestra and the Young Portuguese Orchestra. With the JOP, he conducted the Portuguese premiere of Between Trees (2021), by Kristine Tj\u00f8gersen, and performed at the Konzerthaus in Berlin, at the Young Euro Classic festival, one of the most prestigious events that brings together young orchestral talent in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n He took part in the centenary celebrations of Iannis Xenakis, conducting Pl\u00ebiades with the OCP percussion group, and conducted Igor Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring with the Portuguese Chamber Orchestra and the National Ballet Company, with original choreography by Vaslav Nijinsky.
