Henrique Const\u00e2ncia<\/strong>, a Portuguese conductor from the island of S\u00e3o Miguel in the Azores, has stood out for his versatility and the energy he puts into his interpretations, covering repertoires ranging from the Baroque to contemporary music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He began his musical career as a cellist, having studied with Paulo Gaio Lima at the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra and with Gideon den Herder at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He trained as an orchestral conductor at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, continuing his training at the Italian Conducting Academy in Milan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a guest he has conducted orchestras such as the Orquestra do Algarve, Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, Orquestra Sinf\u00f3nica do Porto Casa da M\u00fasica, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, Orquestra do Norte, Orquestra de C\u00e2mara de Cascais e Oeiras, Orquestra Cl\u00e1ssica do Centro, Orquestra Cl\u00e1ssica da Madeira, Sinfonietta de Braga, Sandnes Symfoniorkester, and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.\n\nAmong the soloists with whom he has collaborated are the percussionist Pedro Carneiro, the sopranos Silvia Sequeira and Rafaela Albuquerque, the baritone Christian Luj\u00e1n, the pianist \u00c1sta D\u00f3ra Finnsd\u00f3ttir, and the guitarist Carlos Gall\u00e9n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was Assistant Conductor of the Orquestra de C\u00e2mara Portuguesa and the Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa.\n\nWith the Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa, he conducted the Portuguese premiere of Between Trees (2021) by Kristine Tj\u00f8gersen and appeared at the Konzerthaus Berlin as part of the Young Euro Classic, one of the most prestigious events bringing together young orchestral talents from across Europe.\n\nHe also conducted The Rite of Spring by Igor Stravinsky with the Orquestra de C\u00e2mara Portuguesa and the Companhia Nacional de Bailado, featuring the original choreography by Vaslav Nijinsky.\n\nIn 2023, he was invited to serve as guest conductor of the European Medical Student Orchestra and Choir (EMSOC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is Programming and Audience Engagement Assistant for the Festival Cidnay \u2013 Vale do Ave, an event that brings together leading national and international musicians while promoting artistic excellence and the training of young performers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2026, he has been a member of the prestigious Dirigentforum, an elite programme within Norway\u2019s Dirigentl\u00f8ftet initiative, dedicated to the development of the next generation of conductors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
